The spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) swept across the nation and brought cancellations and closures to many of our favourite events, businesses and even our holiday vacations. Despite the challenges of this unprecedented situation, we believe in the power and goodness of our community.
Do you like running or walking? Need a safe activity to get you and your family out of the house during self-quarantine? Well, you are in luck! As part of our Marine Conservation Fundraiser, Downbelow Marine & Wildlife Adventures is organising a virtual summit climb where anyone around the globe can get involved. So, join us now and virtually climb Mount Kinabalu’s 18KM distance and 2,330m ascent over a two day period before 31st August 2020!

We begin the climb at the official starting point of Timpohon Gate (1,833m a.s.l). Make our way through the upper montane jungle forest as we climb 8.5KM to the summit at 4,093m a.s.l. It is pretty much all uphill until the summit before heading back down the same route.
Where Can I Do My Run?
Anywhere you like! The ‘race’ can be done at your own pace and at your choice of location! Race, run or walk – we encourage people of all fitness levels and abilities to join in!
Share images and stories of how you are training for this two day challenge and achieving the virtual summit. It is not easy to climb a mountain when you have got none to climb, that’s the challenge! Upload and share images and stories of how you are training for this two day challenge and achieving the virtual summit climb at our Mount Kinabalu Climb Challenge 2020 Facebook Group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/VirtualMountKinabalu2020

Is It Safe To Do The Race At The Moment?
Please comply with the current advice from your Government regarding movement restrictions and local guidelines on outdoor exercise during the COVID-19 pandemic. In many places, outdoor exercise is currently safe and encouraged, though it is important to keep at least 2 metres of distance between you and your non-household exercise companions. If you are able to go outside – pick somewhere where you can stay a safe distance from others. We just ask that you choose somewhere that is safe and has level ground as we cannot be held responsible for any injuries!
